Do I have to use a handheld computer in order to operate Xen-APIARY™?
No, you can use our specially designed data sheets to enter your information while in the field; this information can then be entered into the system through the Web Application.
What level of tracking is included within Xen-APIARY™?
You can operate at whichever level you choose; Site, Hive, Queen or Super. Just remember that the level and quality of information you are able to report on depends on the level of information you enter. If you record at the Site level only, then you can track at the Site level only.
Who can access my data?
Only those whom you have authorised to do so.
How do I identify my hives within Xen-APIARY™?
This is achieved by attaching a code and/or barcode to the hive and recording it in Xen-APIARY™. The barcode is then scanned by the barcode reader attached to the handheld computer, which makes the hive information immediately available to you. If you are not using a handheld computer with barcode scanner, you can locate the hive from a list on the web form.
What are the minimum system requirements for operating Xen-APIARY™?
Windows 98, PC with Pentium 233 MHz or higher processor, although Pentium III is recommended as being the minimum.
What sort of handheld device should I purchase for use with Xen-APIARY™?
Xen-APIARY™ requires any handheld running WINDOWS MOBILE 2003 only (Palm not supported) with the ability to run Microsoft ActiveSync and the .NET framework. Xenacom has carried out the trials for Xen-APIARY™ using the iPAQ, Intermec and Symbol handheld computers.
What kind of Bar Codes should be used for Xen-APIARY™?
Barcodes are optional. In case you would like to use them, any barcodes should work specifically barcodes fitting these specs: UPC/EAN (UPCE0, UPCE1, UPCA, EAN8, EAN13), CODABAR, MSI, CODE39, CODE11, CODE93, CODE128, D2OF5, TRIOPTIC39, or WEBCODE.
